Fig scents
I’ve been obsessed with fig scents lately. Here’s what I’ve been buying:
D.S. & Durga Debaser
I first discovered this at FINCH in Hudson on a 100 degree summer Saturday and immediately fell in love. Debaser smells like green figs and creamy coconut with a musky drydown. Which sounds weird and very vacation-y (I’m generally not a fan of coconut flavors… Coconut LaCroix is disgusting) but it just works for me. I ended up splurging on a 50 mL bottle at D.S. & Durga’s Williamsburg store and it’s easily one of my favorite purchases of recent memory. Summer is fleeting; Debaser is not.
Le Labo Figue 15
This is the perfect juicy green fig scent to get me thru yet another lonesome WFH day. This candle has become a splurgy repeat purchase for me and ranks as one of my all time faves… I recently tried Diptyque’s Figuier instead and it was a BIG MISTAKE. If Figue 15 were to be a relaxing summer day in the Mediterranean; Figuier is more like being trapped in a stuffy powder room with floral wallpaper. Truly disappointing; the only Diptyque candles I can really stomach are Baies and Feu de Bois.
Harry’s Fig Body Wash
Full disclosure: I used to work at Harry’s and did not actually buy this! But this body wash smells incredible and is a steal at $7.49. Unlike my other fave figs, this is not a green fig but rather a warm, spicy one—while I love using this year round, it hits especially well in the fall and winter. Honestly, Harry’s did a fantastic job with their body washes; my other fave is Shiso.
